An accessory nozzle for the late Starfighters in 1:72 scale, a resin casting cut for Revell and Monogram kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin exhaust nozzle in 1:72 scale for the late F-104 versions. This item is shaped for Revell and Monogram kits; an identical-looking set for Hasegawa kits is made separately by the manufacturer, because the diameter and the depth of the seating differ between the two bases. So go by which box you have at home, not by which version of the Starfighter you want to build.
The casting captures the inner petals, the rings and the outer plating with a sharpness that is hard to reach in injection-molded plastic at this scale. At the same time it does away with gluing the nozzle together from two halves and with the lengthwise seam that would have to be filled in exactly the place the viewer's eye goes.
The Starfighter became famous as a machine with an unusually high thrust-to-weight ratio and with a wing so thin that not even the main landing gear legs would fit into it. In European air arms it replaced a whole range of older types and served in many countries right into the 1990s. The late renditions differed from the early ones above all in their equipment and in larger tail surfaces.
What is sold is the part itself, meant as a swap; the aircraft is not included in the package.
