1:72 French Imperial General Staff

French Imperial General Staff, 1:72 scale, Italeri

A plastic set of unassembled and unpainted figures of the French imperial staff of the Napoleonic Wars, in 1:72 scale. It is an injection-molded plastic set of figures - commanders, officers and their escort, suited to building, painting and to a headquarters diorama as a strong element. Italeri is an established Italian maker of plastic models and figures.

The real subject

The imperial general staff formed the command of the Grande Armee - generals, aides-de-camp and staff officers who directed the movements of the troops on the battlefield. Richly decorated uniforms, horses and an escort make them a rewarding subject for a diorama. The figures capture the men in conference and in command.

Building and painting tips

• Cut the figures and horses from the sprue and clean up the mold seams.
• On the softer plastic use a suitable cement or super glue; apply a primer before painting.
• Paint with acrylics - a base coat, shadows in the folds and a dry brush on the edges.
• The richly decorated staff uniforms reward careful picking out of the detail (braid, epaulettes, orders).

Who the set is for

• Modelers and diorama builders of the Napoleonic Wars.
• Wargamers who need command figures in 1:72 scale.
