Single-piece metal 88 mm gun barrel, 1:72

A turned metal barrel of the German eighty-eight-millimeter anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun with a barrel length of fifty-six calibers, in a single-piece form, for models in 1:72 scale. It is not a model but a replacement part. A single-piece barrel means that it is made from one piece with no division, so it carries no seam and no transition.

What it is for

• Replacing the plastic barrel on a model of the towed 88 mm gun.
• A perfectly straight barrel along its whole length.
• A genuinely drilled muzzle instead of a solid plastic tip.
• Repairing a model with a broken or warped barrel.

Building and painting tips

Drill the opening in the cradle to the diameter of the shank, so that the barrel seats concentrically. On a long barrel it pays to stand the model up after gluing and check it from the front and from above. In 1:72 work with tweezers over a light surface. It is glued with super glue. Degrease the part before painting and lay down a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth metal.
