A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the brand HäT. The package consists of thirty parts from which you assemble twelve riders in four poses and twelve horses. The figures are unpainted and the riders have to be seated in the saddle. Gothic cavalry is the natural opponent of the late Roman sets from the same maker and completes them into a full battle formation.
Gothic cavalry played a decisive role in late antiquity. At Adrianople in 378 its unexpected return to the battlefield decided the destruction of the eastern Roman army and the death of the emperor Valens. The riders fought with spear and sword, only the leading men of a retinue had armor, and a large oval shield was part of the equipment. Gothic detachments later served as allies of Rome too, so the same figures can be placed on either side.
Wash the plastic in lukewarm soapy water, dry it and spray it with a flexible primer. Try the rider in the saddle dry first, and only then join them with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the clothing in natural tones and save the richer colors for the shields and the horses' saddlecloths. Set the mail armor of the leading men apart with a dark base and a dry brush; the contrast with the other riders then creates the impression of a retinue around a leader.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
