An injection-molded plastic model of the British fighter Hawker Tempest Mk.V in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Smer. It is a reissue of an older tool proven over the years - technically, then, a simpler, classic kit with coarser surface detail than modern kits have. The boxing contains plastic parts, clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet.
The Hawker Tempest Mk.V was a British single-engine fighter committed at the end of the Second World War. It was developed from the Typhoon, from which it differed above all in its new, thinner elliptical wing and its longer fuselage. It was powered by the powerful Napier Sabre H-24 engine and carried four 20 mm cannons in the wings. The Tempest was among the fastest piston fighters of its day at low and medium altitudes; it made its name among other things by shooting down German V-1 flying bombs and in combat with contemporary jet aircraft.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic. With an older tool expect to clean up the mold seams more carefully and to sand the joints down; remove any flash carefully. Apply a primer before painting, lay the colors on with an airbrush in thin coats and mask the camouflage transitions. Typical British schemes benefit from a subtle emphasis of the panels and a light wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
