1:72 Heinkel He-119 V5 (Floats) is a short-run kit of the floatplane version of the German high-speed experimental aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German high-speed experimental aircraft He 119 in the floatplane form of the fifth prototype, in 1:72. The maker builds on short-run technology, so count on more careful fitting of the parts. In return you get a type that the big brands do not offer.
The He 119 was an attempt to build an aircraft with the least possible drag. Power came from a pair of engines coupled into a single unit inside the fuselage, which drove a single propeller through a long shaft. The shaft ran under the floor of the cockpit, so the crew sat above it and the nose stayed fully glazed, with no engine in the way. The result was an exceptionally clean shape and a speed that the production machines of the day could not match. The type stayed at a few prototypes, of which the floatplane version was to test the possibilities of use over the sea.
With a short-run kit try every part dry and count on filling. Glue the floats and their struts on a flat surface with a jig that holds the angles, or the aircraft will stand crooked. Finish the glazed nose before you close the fuselage. The smooth surface of an experimental machine deserves careful preparation, because every irregularity stands out under a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
