Kamov KASKR-2 Soviet Autogyro is a plastic kit of the Soviet autogyro design in 1:72 scale from Amodel.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit represents the Soviet KASKR-2 autogyro of the early 1930s. Amodel is one of the so-called short-run makers, so the build is rather more demanding than with the large mainstream brands: expect to clean up parts, dress ejector marks and adjust the glued joints. The real subject carried no national insignia, so the model is built without decals. The reward is an unusual and rarely modeled machine.
The KASKR-2 was an improved version of the KASKR-1 autogyro by the designers N. I. Kamov and N. K. Skrzhinsky. Against the first prototype it was given a more powerful engine and modified lifting surfaces. An autogyro uses an unpowered rotor turned by the oncoming air for lift and a tractor propeller for forward flight. It was one of the first Soviet experiments with rotary-wing aircraft and opened the way to the later development of helicopters at the Kamov design bureau.
Try the parts together dry first. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and glue the thin lattice struts and the rotor blades carefully. A primer coat and spraying with an airbrush for a fine finish are advisable. It is worth strengthening the delicate joints.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
