HäT 8039 French horse artillery is a 1:72 set with four guns and twenty-four crew figures in six poses.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set in 1:72 scale contains four guns and twenty-four crew figures in six poses. From a single box, then, you can build a whole battery. This is horse artillery, where the crew moved on horseback, and that shows in the appearance of the figures too: they have riding breeches, high boots and a saber. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Horse artillery was the fast element meant to keep pace with the cavalry. The difference from foot artillery lay not in the guns but in the fact that the crew rode in the saddle instead of walking, so a battery could take up its position considerably sooner. In the French army it was prestigious and well-paid service, and Napoleon himself began as an artillery officer, though with the foot branch. In a battle what mattered was the ability to bring fire to where the enemy had just deployed.
The wheels have fine spokes, so separate them with a sharp knife and a little at a time. Build the dark blue coat up in layers over a gray base and leave the red facings for last. The wooden parts of the carriages are brought to life by a glaze drawn into the joints. Arrange the crews around the gun in natural roles and unify the bases with a single tone; that bonds the battery into one whole.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
