HäT 8035 Roman catapults is a 1:72 set with four engines and forty-eight figures, seventy-two parts in all.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set in 1:72 scale contains four Roman engines of the scorpio type and forty-eight figures, seventy-two parts altogether. Besides the crews it also holds legionaries of the first rank and light infantry, so a whole firing position complete with its screen can be built. Several of the figures have plug-in weapon options. It is supplied unpainted and unassembled.
The scorpio was a light torsion engine that shot a short bolt with great accuracy and to a range where a bow no longer sufficed. The legion carried it along dismantled and set it up both in the defense of a camp and in the field; the crew was part of the legion, not a separate corps. The effect was not an area one but a precise one: against individual targets the scorpio was what a sniper is today. That is precisely why the engines were set up on raised ground or on walls, from where there was a clear shot.
The frame and the arms of the engine have thin parts, so separate them with a sharp knife and do not twist them. Before you glue the catapult together, lay out the crew around it; the engine takes up room and the figures have to fit to it. Wood is brought to life by a thin glaze drawn into the joints; darken the metal parts and lighten only the edges. Try the plug-in weapon options dry before you decide.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
