This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from RS Models captures the Polish light high-wing monoplane RWD-13, this time in the markings and finish of the German Condor Legion. It is exactly the markings that set this boxing apart from the sister release of the Romanian ambulance White Squadron: the plastic is the same, and the decals and schemes differ. The real subject

The RWD-13 was a Polish braced high-wing monoplane of the 1930s, a light touring and liaison machine valued for its good low-speed qualities and short takeoff. The Condor Legion was a German expeditionary unit deployed during the Spanish Civil War; a number of confiscated or acquired civil and liaison aircraft served in its ranks and within its sphere of operations. This boxing therefore represents a less usual chapter in the service of a small Polish aircraft.

Building and painting tips

Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, and fill and sand the seams; on short-run kits, check the fit dry. Apply a primer and paint with an airbrush for clean transitions. Mask the cabin and fit it only once the paintwork is done. Apply the decals onto a gloss coat, so that no silvery edge appears, and seal them with a matte coat.
