An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-85 heavy tank in 1:72 scale. The model is released by the manufacturer Trumpeter. The package contains plastic parts for the hull and the turret, the running gear and a decal sheet with Soviet markings. The smaller 1:72 scale is rewarding both for collectors of armored vehicles and for dioramas.
The KV-85 was a transitional Soviet heavy tank of late 1943, created by fitting a new turret with an 85 mm gun onto the chassis of the lightened KV-1S. The heavier gun was a response to the new German tanks, and the KV-85 became the link between the KV series and the emerging IS heavy tanks. It stayed in service only briefly before more capable types replaced it.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Assemble and paint the running gear and the road wheels before you close the hull. Apply a primer before painting; lay the Soviet green down with an airbrush. For a realistic look, use a dark wash into the recesses, a dry brush on the edges and pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
