Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese experimental Tachikawa Ki-106 fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer RS Models. It is a short-run kit made entirely of plastic that captures the late-war wooden version of one of the best Japanese fighters.
The Ki-106 was the wooden variant of the successful Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate fighter. Japan began developing it at the end of the Second World War, when light metals for aircraft production were in short supply, and was looking for a way to build combat aircraft from more readily available wood. The task went to the Tachikawa company; only a few prototypes were built and the first of them flew as late as the summer of 1945, so the aircraft took practically no part in combat.
This is a short-run kit, so expect to spend more care on cleaning up the parts, removing flash and dry-fitting the parts before gluing. Glue the parts with polystyrene cement and the small parts with super glue, and fill and sand the joints as needed. Paint the cockpit and fit it before closing the fuselage. Build up the finish with an airbrush over a primer; mask the one-piece canopy in advance and paint it separately so that the clear areas stand out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
