A supplementary set capturing the engine room of a Type VII submarine in 1:72 scale, meant according to the title for the Revell kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
On a Type VII submarine the engine room was the noisiest and tightest place in the boat. Diesel engines served for running on the surface, while below it electric motors fed from batteries took over the drive. Only a narrow passage was left between the machines, through which the crew squeezed sideways, and the engine room staff spent their watch practically within reach of running machinery.
The set extends the build of the submarine with a worked-up engine room in 1:72 scale. The title assigns it to the kit marked with the abbreviation REV, that is, Revell; the letter V in the title is not explained here and apparently serves to distinguish it within the range. Before buying, compare the scale and the version of the submarine with your own kit, and check the extent of the parts in the manufacturer's instructions.
First dry-fit the parts in the hull and only then glue them, because the inner spaces tend to be accurate to the millimeter. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Paint, shade and dirty the engine room before you close the hull up; oil stains and wear on the floor will do more for the scene than fine details that are then not visible.
The set is for modelers who are building the submarine with an open side, a cutaway in the hull or as a sectioned diorama. It also serves well where the interior is lit and the viewer looks into it from the side; of the whole interior of a submarine the engine room is the most rewarding scene. The submarine kit is not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
