AA Models VJ 101C-X2 1:72 is an injection-molded plastic kit of an experimental supersonic fighter with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) in 1:72 scale. The model captures a rare German prototype of the 1960s.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the experimental EWR VJ 101C-X2 supersonic fighter aircraft with vertical take-off and landing in 1:72 scale from AA Models. Besides the plastic parts, the package contains photo-etched parts, a clear sprue for the canopy and decals. This is a kit for a modeler who will appreciate an unusual subject; the model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The VJ 101 was a German experimental program of the late 1950s and the early 1960s whose aim was a supersonic fighter capable of vertical take-off. A consortium of three aircraft companies built flying prototypes with swiveling engine nacelles at the wingtips. The X-2 version was the second prototype, with more powerful engines, and it reached supersonic speed. The project never got into series production, but it is among the most interesting VTOL experiments.
We recommend building according to the instructions, gluing the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and sanding the seams down. Before painting, apply a primer and spray with an airbrush in coats. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The cockpit and the swiveling nacelles deserve careful preparation.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
