An injection-molded plastic kit of the British transport helicopter Westland Wessex HC.2 in 1:72 scale, from a modern tooling by manufacturer Airfix. The model depicts the characteristic fuselage with its large glazed cabin and main rotor head. Check the exact package contents and available color schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Wessex was a licensed British development of the American helicopter Sikorsky S-58, converted to turbine power. The HC.2 version served with Britain's Royal Air Force from the early 1960s as a multi-role type — carrying out troop and cargo transport, direct ground-support tasks, Air Sea Rescue, and casualty evacuation. It is distinguished by twin turboshaft engines in the nose and a main rotor with a conventional rotor head.
Glue the parts with thin plastic cement and sand the joints carefully. Pay extra attention to the rotor head — it is an intricate, visually prominent assembly; glue the small parts precisely and let them cure fully. Glue the cabin's extensive glazing with canopy cement so the plastic doesn't fog, and mask the frames while spraying. After gloss varnish and decals, highlight the panel lines with a wash and add light operational weathering appropriate to a hard-worked type.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
