Decals with the Allied markings of the aircraft that flew over the Czech and Slovak lands during the war. Eight options, American fighters and night bombers alike.
Responsibility details are not available.
From the spring of 1944 formations from Italian and English bases appeared over Central Europe. American daylight raids headed for the refineries and railroad yards of Moravia, and the escorting fighters reached deep inland in the process, while at night British crews worked over the same regions, dropping supplies to the resistance. The set puts this slice of history together through eight particular aircraft.
Among the options are a fighter from a unit made up of Black pilots, whose men flew from Italian airfields, two aircraft of squadron commanders from the English setting, another from a unit operating over the Mediterranean, then a heavy four-engined bomber from a famous bomb group and its counterpart with twin tail fins. They are rounded out by British twin-engined and four-engined night aircraft from two squadrons that appeared over our regions after dark.
The printing is carried on a thin varnish, so that once dry the markings merge with the surface and form no ridge. Prepare the area under the decal with gloss varnish, lay the motif onto a dampened base and blot the excess water away with a cloth. On the large roundels a softener helps, so that the varnish draws down into the engraved lines. Once dry, go over the whole model with matte varnish, and the last glossy edges will disappear with it. On the lower surfaces of bombers, bear in mind that the markings tended to be placed asymmetrically with respect to the wing, and before laying a motif down, check its position against the drawing in the instructions.
