A set of German motorcycles with a sidecar and their crews in 1:72 scale. In the first years of the war the motorcycle with a sidecar was the standard means of reconnaissance and signals units, and on a diorama it gives the scene movement, because it can be set up on the move rather than merely parked.
The heavy motorcycle with a sidecar carried three men, one of whom manned the machine gun mounted on the sidecar. It was fast, got through narrow lanes and used little fuel, which made it a good means of reconnaissance. Its weak points were the vulnerability of the crew, which sat entirely unprotected, and limited mobility in mud. From the middle of the war it was gradually replaced by armored and cross-country cars.
Assemble and paint the motorcycle before you seat the crew on it. Small parts such as the handlebars and the carriers are very fine in this scale, so cut them off with a fresh blade over the box. The wheel and the underside of the sidecar deserve dust and mud, because that is exactly where they clung. Dry-fit the figures in the saddle, so that they do not sit in mid-air.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
