British mortars of the Second World War in 1:72 scale from HäT. A set of unpainted crew figures with weapons for dioramas and for tabletop games.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of unpainted plastic figures of a British mortar crew with their weapons in 1:72 scale. The mortar was long overlooked in dioramas, and yet it was the most widespread infantry support weapon of all. The set gives your scene exactly the layer that is usually missing: the support assets behind the front line.
The British infantry used mortars of several calibers, from light weapons carried by one man to heavier ones served by a crew of several. A mortar fires at a high angle, so it hits a target hidden behind an obstacle in the terrain, and that is exactly why it was so valuable in trenches, in towns and in mountainous ground. The crew worked kneeling or lying down in order to keep under cover.
The figures are made of soft plastic, on which ordinary primer holds badly. First wash them in warm water with detergent, let them dry completely and use a flexible primer or acrylic paint in thin coats. Bent parts can be straightened by dipping them briefly in hot water and fixing them in cold. At the end we recommend matte varnish, which reduces rubbing during handling.
The figures are supplied unpainted and may need a little assembly. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
