HäT 28008 Almoravid light infantry is a set of 28 mm figures in hard plastic - thirty-two figures from the time of El Cid.

This set of HäT figures in the 28 mm wargaming scale contains thirty-two figures of Almoravid light infantry and is the counterpart to the heavy infantry from the same range. The figures are in hard plastic, so they are joined with ordinary modeling cement for polystyrene and will also take additions in wire. The range as a whole covers three sides of the fighting on the Iberian peninsula in the eleventh century.
The light infantry of the Almoravid forces carried out the tasks a close formation of spearmen could not handle: fighting out in front, harassing the enemy with missiles, pursuit and covering the flanks. They carried a lighter shield, javelins or a bow and a minimum of armor, because mobility was what counted. In the open country of the Iberian peninsula this way of fighting proved itself, and that on both sides of the conflict; Christian and Muslim armies alike put light detachments in the front line before the main forces even met.
The javelins and the archers' accessories are thin, so separate them with a sharp knife and do not bend them. Light infantry wore no uniform dress, so several muted earthy shades pay off, with unity brought in at the end by a common tone on the bases. Paint the shields separately before you attach them, and work the pattern on them before you bring them up to the figure's hand.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
