A publication from the Topdrawings imprint devoted to the American battleship Massachusetts, volume number 46.
Responsibility details are not available.
Massachusetts is the name of an American battleship. Battleships were the heaviest gun-armed surface vessels of their day. They carried a main battery of the largest caliber in turrets, heavy armor on the hull and the turrets, and a numerous anti-aircraft battery. Their appearance changed over their service, though: radars and light barrels were added, and the placement of the boats, the platforms and the paint scheme all changed. For a modeler these differences are exactly what matters, because they decide which period the model being built belongs to and what may and may not be on it.
This is a volume of the Topdrawings imprint, which focuses on drawn documentation of warships and aircraft. The number 46 at the start of the name is a running number within the imprint; the sister titles carry the same form of entry. The publication serves as background for building and detailing a model, that is for checking shapes and the placement of features before the modeler reaches for the glue.
It will be appreciated by the modeler who is gathering background for a ship on the bench and does not want to rely on the kit instructions alone, and equally by the collector of literature on war fleets. Keep the publication at hand during the build and leaf through it before the hull is glued together, at the point when the placement of features on the deck can still be changed.
What is supplied is the publication alone. A model, parts, decals and paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
