Behind the number 69.026 lies a neutral green with no shift toward yellow or toward blue. In the palette for robots it fills the role that an ordinary field green has in military kits: it is the starting tone from which both the lighter and the darker positions of the same field are derived. That is exactly why it is worth having on the table even when you are building something other than a mechanical figure.
Adding a light green or a beige creates a lightened variant for the upper surfaces, while a drop of brown or dark blue pulls it instead into a shadow position. It pays to mix both derivatives in advance into empty bottles and keep a supply; with a later repair to a chipped spot the shade is hard to hit from memory and the difference shows at once on a matte area.
The shade proves itself anywhere the green should be saturated but not garish: on terrain accessories, on the crates and drums of dioramas, on the wooden parts of models and on small figures. Thanks to the matte result it combines easily with pigments and dust effects, which hold considerably worse on a glossy surface and tend to run together into blotches.
