Shade 69.032 is a subdued earthy yellow, that is exactly the position industry uses for warning stripes, for the edges of platforms and for marking dangerous places. On a model of a robot or of heavy equipment, an ocher does two things at once: it breaks up the uniform color of the hull and at the same time it says that the machine is a working tool, not a decoration. Against a pure yellow it is less garish and it takes aging better.
The most common use goes through a mask. Thin strips of tape are stuck onto the finished ground, the gaps are filled with the ocher and after the mask is lifted the edges are evened out with a brush. So that a stripe does not look like a sticker, we recommend damaging it deliberately: a few scratches with a point, a thin rusty line on the edge and a light dusting with pigment, which lowers the saturation and settles the marking into the surface.
Besides markings, an ocher suits dry ground, the drifted deposits around running gear and the lower parts of the legs of walking machines. It is applied heavily thinned, in irregular patches and from the top downward, so that the trace follows the direction in which dust would really run down the surface. Anyone working with pigments can undertone an area with this shade in advance and so achieve a stronger impression of a layer of deposit.
