Sand Yellow Matt is a sand yellow from the Mecha Color range by Vallejo, carried by the maker under the number 69.033. It dries to a matte finish, so the surface does not reflect light harshly and takes further treatments well, from washes to pigments. A shade of this kind comes into its own on desert schemes of vehicles, on the shells of robots and machines, and as a light base under ocher and brown tones.
Mecha Color is a water-based acrylic range that Vallejo put together for models of robots, sci-fi machinery and modern vehicles. The shades within one range can be mixed with each other, so you can mix transitional tones yourself and do not have to rely on what happens to be available. It is thinned with water or with a thinner intended for this range; the maker states the thinning ratio on the packaging.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom while standing. Apply the paint in thin coats and let each one dry; a single heavy coat covers the relief and brush marks will stay in it. It is applied with a brush and, once thinned, with an airbrush as well. The surface underneath must be clean and degreased; on a greasy surface the coat will not hold and will be pulled off during masking.
It will be reached for by builders of mecha models and sci-fi machinery, by modelers of military vehicles in a desert scheme and by painters of figures who are missing a light sand tone on their palette.
The packaging holds the paint alone. Brushes, thinner and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
