The large-format figure 75mm Pin-up at the gas pump captures a girl leaning against a filling station pump and is cast in resin for collectors.
Responsibility details are not available.
This collector resin figure from the Italian manufacturer Royal Model places a girl beside a hand-operated fuel pump. The 75 mm figure gives the height of the figure in the way the brand uses it for large figures, so it is not the scale of a kit. The larger format makes it possible to work out the features of the face, the hairstyle and the folds of the cloth to a level of detail that is lost in small scales.
Drawings of smiling girls in daring poses were part of calendars, posters and the decoration of American workshops and filling stations from the 1930s on. During the war crews had them painted on the fuselages of aircraft and on fighting vehicles, and after 1945 the motif moved into advertising for fuel and automobiles. A fuel pump with a glass globe and a mechanical counter is as characteristic of this era as the figure itself.
Free the resin parts of the remains of mold release agent with lukewarm soapy water, cut the gates off and level the mating surfaces. Cyanoacrylate glue will hold the joints, strengthened with a wire pin on heavier parts. Skin is the main task in this format: build it up in layers, with oil paints or with acrylic glazes, and blend the transitions until the sharp edges disappear. Unify the final varnish in matte and leave the gloss on the lips and in the eyes only.
The casting is unpainted and unassembled; paints are not enclosed.
