The angled point and what can be done with it

The blender of synthetic hair has a point cut obliquely. One edge therefore lies on the surface along the whole length of the hair while the other stays free, and the paint can be spread with a stroke away to nothing instead of being pushed into the material. The Large size is the most generous of the three offered for an area: hoods, fuselages, cloak parts, large shields and bases.

How many models it will last for

The service life is not determined by the number of models painted but by the handling. Synthetic fiber does not split from water or from thinned acrylics and does not go dull as fast as natural hair, so a single piece usually accompanies dozens of part-built figures and vehicles. What decides is that the paint should not run into the metal ferrule. Nobody will wash it out of there, and the hair then starts to spread to the sides.

A use outside scale modeling

The angled shape has been taken up by painters of fantasy figures, by collectors who retouch series castings and by people entirely outside modeling. It works with watercolor, with toning illustrations or with coloring small wooden objects, where a smooth transition of two shades is what matters. The only thing it pays to watch is the cleanliness of the water, because the remains of the previous shade are recognized at once in a light glaze.

After unpacking and onward

A new piece tends to be stiffened with a solution that is rinsed out with lukewarm water before the first work. After that all that is left is to wash it right after finishing the work and to dry it so that the hair does not stand bent against the bottom of a container. Stored dry, it has nothing to lose from aging and will last for years.
