Destiny Specll Light Gray Semi-Gloss

A light gray for the Destiny machine

A modeling paint from the line of shades created directly for kits of Gundam robots. The name assigns it to the Destiny machine in the Spec II version and gives two things: the tone is light gray and the sheen is semi-gloss. The point of the line is that the builder does not have to mix the shade or look for a substitute in a chart for military subjects, but hits the color of the subject straight from the bottle.

Why semi-gloss in particular

A semi-gloss surface is the most rewarding choice on large machines. A gloss coat brightens the reflections so much that the breakdown of the panels is lost in them; a completely matte one reads as flat and dusty on extensive areas. Semi-gloss holds the middle: the areas stay legible, the edges keep a sharp transition and a wash settles only in the lines where it belongs. A light gray adds a difficulty of its own, because it covers less well on dark plastic than more saturated tones.

How to work with the paint

• Stir the bottle thoroughly before use; the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Apply in several thin coats instead of one thick one, otherwise it floods the fine edges.
• On dark plastic lay a light base; you will save further coats that way.
• Spray the parts separately before gluing, so that the paint reaches into the recesses as well.
• Handle the thinning ratio, cleaning the tools and the clear coat according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.

Terms of supply

The paint alone is supplied. The kit, thinner, varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and store the bottle carefully closed, out of the reach of children.
