Responsibility details are not available.
A selection of water-based acrylic paints by Vallejo, put together for fantasy figures and offered under the designation Aztec Dragons. The advantage of a set over assembling individual bottles is that the shades come from the same line: they have the same binder and fineness of pigment, so you can mix them with one another and mixed tones hold together. The particular composition is stated on the box of the set.
With fantasy creatures the structure of the surface counts for more than accuracy. Lay a middle tone under a scaled area first, darken the hollows between the scales with a thin paint and take the edges of the individual scales out lightly with a lighter shade. The membranes of wings will take a thin glaze through which the ground shows, and they then look translucent. Leave small features such as claws, teeth or eyes until the end, when you already have the overall tone of the figure in hand.
Shake the bottle before use, as settled pigment will not stir up otherwise, and thin the paint with water as needed. Apply it in thin coats, or the relief of the figure will disappear. For longer sessions a wet palette pays off, as a mixed tone lasts on it. Give the figure an evening-out ground first and protect finished work with varnish, because an unprotected acrylic surface is rubbed off during handling.
For painters of fantasy figures who want a complete selection instead of individual bottles. Figures, brushes and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
