U-Boot IX, forward torpedo section of the interior 1:72 (CMK)

This resin detail set is NOT a submarine model but an accessory for a plastic kit of the German Type IX submarine in 1:72 scale. It adds a faithful interior of the forward (bow) torpedo section, the compartment with the torpedo tubes, the stowed torpedoes and the crew bunks. The set combines cast resin with photo-etched sheet and captures the typical layout of the bow torpedo room.

What the set is for

It makes it possible to show a fully fitted interior wherever it is visible through open hatches or a cutaway hull. The bow torpedo room also served as quarters for part of the crew, which is why it contains both combat equipment and the sailors' living space.

Building and painting tips

Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Paint the interior before closing the hull, using a wash and a dry brush to bring out the piping and the instruments.
