A clear red modeling paint from the Mr.Color GX range, designation GX121 Clear Rouge. It is applied in thin coats over a base that shows through it.
Responsibility details are not available.
A clear paint does not cover. Instead of hiding the base it tints it, much like colored glass. The resulting depth of color therefore does not depend on the shade alone but mainly on how many coats you lay down and on what lies beneath them. Over a silver or plated base a deep glossy effect appears, over a white base the shade comes out bright and clean, over a dark one it darkens almost to brown. That is exactly why clear shades are handled differently from ordinary opaque paint.
Most often to the tail and brake lights of vehicles, to the navigation lights of aircraft, to glazing and windows that are meant to be tinted, and to deep colored body finishes laid over a metallic base. It also serves well for deepening a color where the transition is to be smooth and without a hard edge.
The base has to be smooth and clean, because every scratch and every speck of dust stays visible under a clear coat. Apply in several thin coats and let the paint dry through between them; check the depth of color against the light as you go, because you cannot take it back off. Choose the thinner intended for this range and follow the thinning ratio stated by the manufacturer on the packaging. Clean the tools and the airbrush right after work, as a dried coat is considerably harder to remove.
The paint is supplied. The thinner, brushes and other modeling supplies are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
