Hobby color burnt metal is a water-thinnable metallic paint in a dark shade with a blue-violet cast. 10 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Burnt metal is not a color a new part would have. It appears where metal repeatedly goes through high temperatures: on exhausts, on gun barrels, on heat shields and on burnt-out wrecks. The shade is dark, with a blue-violet cast of the kind steel takes on after tempering.
The binder is water-thinnable and the metal particles in the paint are coarser than in the glossy metallic shades, so the surface stays matte metallic. On smooth plastic the thinner of the same line proves itself for the sake of adhesion.
The shade works best as one layer within a larger whole, not as a color on its own. Under it belongs a dark metal base, over it heat tint colors and finally soot pigment applied dry. Laid down on its own it reads as a violet stain, whereas in combination it gives the surface real depth.
On burnt-out wrecks in a diorama it pays to combine this shade with brown rust and with dark gray. Burnt metal on its own looks artificial; only in a mixture with other tones does the impression of genuinely damaged material appear.
