A blue shade from the Mr. Aqueous Gundam Color modeling range. It is a water-thinnable acrylic paint in a semi-gloss finish. The shades of this range are mixed to the machines of the world of Gundam and this one carries the name Rising Freedom. The modeler therefore does not have to hunt for the shade by mixing and reaches straight for a ready-made one.
The range is aimed above all at robot kits, where the work is with large smooth areas and saturated colors. Semi-gloss is the middle step between flat and gloss: the area stays alive, but it does not throw back light so strongly that every irregularity stands out on it. That is exactly why a semi-gloss finish gets on well both with a later panel line accent and with decals, which do not silver over a smoother surface. Its use is not limited to robots either, the shade suits anywhere you need a saturated blue.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use, the pigment sinks to the bottom. It goes on with a brush as well as with an airbrush, for which it is thinned as the manufacturer states on the packaging. Water-thinnable acrylics are laid down in several thin coats and each one has to dry; a single heavy coat fills in the fine detail and holds worse. Wash and degrease the surface beforehand, and on smooth plastic as well as on metal it pays to go over it with a primer. Wash the brushes and the cups right after the work, a dried acrylic film comes off substantially harder.
The package holds this paint only. The kit, the thinner, the brushes and the other shades are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
