The real subject

The abbreviation FC stands for forward control, that is a layout with the cab set above the engine. For its short length the vehicle therefore carries more than a classic Land Rover, and it is designated after a payload of one ton. All its wheels were driven and in the British army it served from the 1970s in a number of roles, among them as a tractor for a light gun and as a chassis for purpose-built bodies. The boxy cab with no hood makes it one of the most recognizable British military vehicles of its day.

What the kit contains

Building and painting tips

• The 1:76 scale corresponds to the OO railway scale, so the model goes with British layouts and with a small diorama alike.
• The parts are small at this scale, so separate them with a sharp blade and sand the marks left by production with fine paper.
• Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and apply it drop by drop; on small parts the surplus runs at once.
• Wash and degrease the model before painting and apply the primer in a thin coat, otherwise the fine relief will disappear.
• Glaze and mask the cab before you start spraying the outer color.
• Keep the weathering in check; at a reduction of 1:76 a hint is enough and an overloaded model looks dirty rather than used.
