A group of paints from the IONIC range, part number IONIC-0454. The name places it with mecha models, that is with piloted robotic machines, and adds the designation of the color scheme Freedom. Sister items of the same range carry the designations Red colors and Green colors, so these are sets always put together for one color scheme. Which particular shades the set contains and how many there are is stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
Robot kits are painted differently from historical vehicles. The surface is made up of large smooth panels separated by sharp edges, and the paint on them has to be even, without streaks and without graininess, because every unevenness shows on a large area. The transitions between color fields are not blended but masked off. A set put together for one scheme therefore saves time above all: the shades belong together and there is no hunting for which tone holds up next to another.
Stir each paint thoroughly before work, the pigment settles at the bottom. Apply in thin coats and add the next one only once the previous has dried; one heavy coat clogs the engraved joints and the fine relief. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, as more thinning is needed for an airbrush than for a brush. Stick masks on a perfectly dry coat and lift them carefully, so that they do not pull the paint off at the edge. Flush the tools right after work.
