Medium Green - 3/pkg

Three trees of medium height

The package holds three finished deciduous trees with medium green foliage, 7.62 to 10.1 cm tall. It is a size that behaves in a composition as a full-value element: the tree already overtops a figure and most equipment, but it does not yet hide the whole scene, so it can be placed even in the middle of a base.

Where to put a tree like this

It works well to place one piece closer to the viewer at the edge of the base and to push the other two to the rear. The front tree then frames the view and creates depth, while the rear pair closes the scene off. If you are building a forest track, these three are enough to suggest a whole stand, because the eye fills the rest of the wood in by itself.

Adjustments before planting

Finished trees from multi-packs tend to look too orderly. A few interventions help: bend the trunk slightly so that it does not stand upright like a post, open the branches out into an irregular silhouette, and add foliage in a further shade of loose leaf material. It is advisable to set the bottom of the trunk into the terrain and surround it with stones or a tuft of grass, otherwise the transition between the tree and the ground is conspicuous. When gluing into a drilled hole, reach for a thicker glue that will not run into the foliage. Anyone building a scene with military vehicles will appreciate being able to break the lowest branches off, because in a managed wood the trunks are bare to a height of two meters. The last piece of advice concerns light. Trees placed against the main light source of a display case cast a shadow that can be supported by a darker tone of terrain under the canopy. It looks unobtrusive, but the scene gains a volume that planting alone will not provide.
