A set of four metallic paints of 32 ml each for spraying panels of polished metal: Aluminium, Dark Aluminium, Steel and Silver.
Responsibility details are not available.
An airframe of bare duralumin looks like a mosaic close up. Every panel has a slightly different shade, because it comes from a different batch of sheet, has aged differently and reflects light differently. A model painted with a single silver color will never give that impression, however well it is laid on. The way to it leads through several related tones sprayed panel by panel with the help of masking tape.
This set is put together for that: four bottles of 32 ml, specifically a light aluminum, its darker counterpart, steel and silver. The differences between them are large enough to be visible on a finished model and small enough not to make the result look like patchwork.
The paints are meant above all for the airbrush. Brushing is possible only on really small areas, otherwise brush marks stay in the surface and the reflection breaks up.
The set makes the most sense with machines of the late war and of the 1950s, where bare metal was the norm. It also comes into its own where only part of the airframe is metal, for example on the panels around the exhausts or on surfaces where the paint has been rubbed away by use. In that case a single shade from the set is enough and the rest is left for another project, because thirty-two milliliters will last a very long time on a small area.
