Sixteen shades for the Allied armies of the Second World War - the American, British and Soviet uniform, the olive and khaki tones of equipment, flesh and metals.
Responsibility details are not available.
The collection sets the uniform tones of the main Allied forces side by side, so that American infantry, a British soldier and a Soviet tank crewman can all be painted from a single package. The difference between them is subtle, and that is exactly why it pays to have the shades together: USA Uniform, English Uniform and Russian Unif. WWII beside one another show at once which belongs where.
Equipment is covered by a group of greens and browns of its own. US Dark Green and Gunship Green aim at American machines, Russian Green at the Eastern Front, Olive Grey with the shade US Field Drab make up faded areas and US Tan Earth with Sand Light the desert variants. The transitional role is played by Khaki and Intermediate Green.
The rest of the set is there to serve: Medium Fleshtone for hands and faces, white with black for highlights and shadows, Gunmetal Grey for weapons, chains and tracks. None of that is ornament; these are the shades that run out before the themed ones do.
The paints are water-thinnable acrylics for a brush, drying matte. The sixteen-piece extent is the widest offered in this line of themed sets, and it matches the reach: three armies instead of one.
A practical note on the order of work: it is better to finish the uniform before the equipment. Belts and straps are then easier to run across a dry area, and any overrun is put right with one stroke of the uniform tone.
