A flat brush has its bristles cut to a straight edge and spreads paint in a band rather than to a point. It therefore suits continuous surfaces, painting parts in after assembly, straight transitions at edges and drybrushing, in which raised shapes are brought out with a tiny amount of paint. Compared with a round brush it covers the same area in fewer strokes, so fewer marks remain once dry.
Size 2 is among the smaller formats in the range: it is large enough for the surfaces of parts, and at the same time it can be worked along edges and in uneven places, where a wide brush would reach onto the neighboring surface. The bristles are synthetic, hold the shape of the edge and are easier to clean than natural hair.
Load the paint only into part of the length of the bristles and never right up to the ferrule; dried paint at the ferrule splays the bristles and the edge goes astray. Apply several thin coats rather than one heavy one and let each set. After work, clean the brush at once with the thinner that matches the paint used, rinse it and shape the bristles back with your fingers. Do not stand it in a container resting on its bristles, and do not store it wet head down.
For modelers who paint with a brush, and for those who spray and need a brush for repairs, for accessories and for drybrushing. The brush alone is supplied. Paints, thinner and cleaning agents are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
