A pink shade from the basic color line of the Gunze brand in a ten-milliliter bottle. Intended for spraying with an airbrush.

A color that looks marginal at first sight has a surprisingly wide range of uses. British reconnaissance Spitfires were given a pale pink finish for flights at dawn and dusk, because that was what blended best with the sky above the horizon. The shade is also useful for mixing flesh tones on figures, for the marking stripes of modern vehicles, for transport machines in civil colors and for car and motorcycle models, where it forms a chapter of its own. The saturation is such that the paint covers without the need for many coats.
This is a solvent-based paint of the lacquer type, not a water-thinnable acrylic. Both its strengths and its demands follow from that: the coat is exceptionally thin and smooth, very resistant to abrasion once dry, and it takes later washes without the risk of dissolving. At the same time it needs a ventilated workplace, and the tools are cleaned only with solvent, not with water. The volume of the bottle is ten milliliters.
It is thinned with the maker's own thinner of the same brand, either the standard one or the slow-drying one, usually in a ratio of between one and two parts of paint to one part of thinner, according to how thick the contents are. The manufacturer does not recommend brushing, as the strokes would remain visible. Stir the contents thoroughly before spraying and build up the lighter tones over an evened-out base, otherwise the color of the plastic will show through. Let the surface rest for a moment between individual passes; the solvent leaves quickly, but with a needlessly heavy coat it has time to build up and the surface then goes flat or wrinkles.
