Gunze Mr. Nipper — single-edged nippers

Mr. Nipper from Gunze (Mr. Hobby) are modeling nippers with a single-edge blade, intended for separating plastic parts from the sprue. The blade is ground on one side only and is very thin, so it cuts the part off the sprue gate as close as possible and leaves a minimum of burr. A clean, precise cut at the root of the gate means less cleaning up of the separation points afterwards. The nippers have a stop that prevents the jaws from opening too far and protects the blade.

Use

• Cut the sprue gate as close to the part as possible, with the blade toward the part.
• Then clean up the remaining stub of the gate with a scraper or a file.
• Use the nippers on plastic only — not on metal or photo-etched parts.
• Keep the blade clean and protect it from damage.
