Yellow Brown is a yellow-brown shade from the Model Air range by Vallejo, supplied in a bottle with a capacity of 17 ml. It is the tone that comes into its own on earthy camouflage schemes, on dusty surfaces and on wood, and it also mixes well, so a whole scale of ocher and sandy shades can be derived from it.
Model Air is an acrylic range ready to spray, and the consistency can be adjusted with water or the thinner from the same line as needed. Shake the paint thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles in the bottle. Spray in thin coats and at low pressure so that the surface detail stays readable. It can also be applied with a brush, but there it pays to work in thin coats and let each one dry so that no marks are left behind the stroke.
Wash the surface beforehand, degrease it and even it out with a primer, otherwise the paint will rub off on the edges. Earthy shades look more convincing when they are not left as a single flat area: mix in a little of a lighter tone and brighten the centers of large panels, leaving the edges and shadows darker. Apply a gloss varnish over the area before the decals, as the edges of the film would give themselves away over a matte surface. Rinse the airbrush cup and the nozzle right after work, because dried acrylic paint is far harder to remove than fresh.
The paint is sold on its own. An airbrush, brushes, thinner, varnish and other modeling supplies do not belong to it, unless stated otherwise.
