External auxiliary fuel tanks for the Soviet T-55 and T-62 tanks in 1:35 scale. A replacement for the simplified parts in the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Soviet T-55 and T-62 tanks carried external cylindrical fuel tanks at the rear of the hull. These were simple drums mounted in clamps and tie-down straps that increased the fuel supply and extended the vehicle's range away from supply routes. In period photos they are one of the most conspicuous features of both tanks' silhouettes, and they are often marked by dents, worn paint and corrosion.
The set provides auxiliary fuel tanks for the T-55 and T-62 in 1:35 scale. They replace the kit parts, which are usually split into two halves and carry a seam along the full length of the cylinder. Here the tank body is a single piece, so there is no need for filler and sanding, which tends to blur the surrounding raised detail.
The material is not styrene, so ordinary modeling cement has no effect on it. Use cyanoacrylate or epoxy and degrease the surfaces beforehand. Before gluing, dry-fit the tanks against the frames and mounts at the rear of the hull. Once the base coat is sprayed on, the cylindrical body is a rewarding surface for washes and pigments. Dents and worn spots stand out well when you lightly highlight the edges with dry-brushing.
The set is intended for builders of Soviet armor in 1:35 scale who want a clean, seamless cylinder on their model and are planning a pronounced weathered finish.
The package contains only the accessory listed. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
