This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Amodel represents the twin-engine Antonov An-32B turboprop transport aircraft in the colors of the Ukrainian Air Force. The model captures the characteristic engine nacelles carried above the wing and the fuselage with its rear cargo ramp. It is a kit of a less usual subject, meant for modelers who appreciate Eastern transport aircraft.
The Antonov An-32 is an improved transport version derived from the An-26, adapted for operation in hot climates and from high-altitude airfields. Its most striking feature is the more powerful engines mounted above the wing, which improve the airflow around the propellers and performance in difficult conditions. The An-32B version is the common production variant; the machine serves with a number of air forces as a reliable tactical transport.
Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and allow for the more careful fitting of parts typical of kits of this kind. Mask the cockpit glazing. Assemble and paint the interior, the landing gear and the nacelles before you close the airframe; with the engines above the wing, take care that they seat correctly. The military finish shows to advantage sprayed with an airbrush and with gentle emphasis of the panels and lines.
