Epoxy glue for modeling work. It suits joints that have to hold, where cyanoacrylate glue is not enough, and materials that polystyrene cement will not join.
Responsibility details are not available.
Epoxy glue is intended for joints where strength matters. Where cyanoacrylate glue creates a hard and brittle joint, epoxy holds more flexibly and stands up better to stress and vibration, so it suits heavy parts, long spars, attaching a model to its base or metal parts that have to carry something. It also fills a small gap between parts, where a glue of thin consistency merely runs off and leaves the joint without support.
Epoxy glues are mixed from two components, that is resin and hardener; the ratio, the working time and the curing time are given in the manufacturer's instructions and it is good to stick to them, because the resulting strength depends on them. Mix on a smooth non-absorbent surface and only as much as you will really use within the working time. Degrease the surfaces to be glued beforehand, and on smooth metal or resin it helps to roughen them with fine abrasive paper. Fix the parts in place until the joint cures; once cured, the excess can be cut back, sanded and painted over.
Most often when gluing metal and resin parts, when seating a model on its base, on aircraft with a stressed joint between the wing and the fuselage, on ship masts and ship rigging and in building dioramas, where a heavy element has to be seated reliably in the terrain.
Work in a well-ventilated room and protect your hands and your work surface. Store the glue closed, out of the reach of children and away from direct sunlight. Tools, a mixing stick and other modeling supplies are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
