This set from Art Scale contains resin exhausts for a model of the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale, supplied as one pair (the left and the right side of the engine). It is not a kit of an aircraft but a detail accessory. The casting offers a finer and sharper shape of the individual exhaust stubs than the production plastic part, usually with hollow mouths suggested.
The P-51D Mustang was powered by the Packard Merlin V12. The side exhaust stacks along the sides of the engine cowling are a prominent and clearly visible feature of this type, one that strongly affects the overall impression of a model.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent and separate them from the casting block. They are glued with super glue. The exhausts come out well when painted over a dark base with a hint of rust and burnt edges; a final dry-brushing in a metallic shade underlines the texture.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
