This is a correction set, not a model of an aircraft. It replaces the nose of the kit with a printed part with the gun muzzles drilled out and adds a front landing gear leg with its wheel. Correction sets arise where a kit misses or simplifies a shape: on the Me 262 the nose is the most watched part of the silhouette, because the whole gun armament was concentrated in it and the muzzles of four weapons are clearly visible at the front of the machine. An injection mold makes them at best as suggested dimples.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet combat aircraft built in series. It was powered by a pair of turbojet engines in nacelles under the wing. The A-1a version was the fighter and carried four 30 mm cannon in the nose, that is weapons of great destructive power but low muzzle velocity. The machine had a nose landing gear, which was still unusual in German production of the time.
The set is for modelers building the Me 262 who want the correct shape of the nose with open gun muzzles. The work calls for cutting the original part off, so a sure hand with a knife and a saw comes in useful.
It is not a model of an aircraft. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
