The Grumman E-2 Hawkeye is an American carrier-borne airborne early warning and control aircraft (AEW&C), developed for operation from aircraft carriers. Above the fuselage it carries a rotating dish radome with a surveillance radar, thanks to which it serves as the airborne eyes of the task force: it searches for air and surface targets and coordinates the work of other aircraft. The E-2C version is powered by a pair of turboprop engines. The French Navy operates the Hawkeye as part of the carrier air wing of its aircraft carrier, which makes this release an interesting variant outside the usual American markings.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint the cockpit and the interior and pick out their detail before closing up the fuselage, and mask the clear glazing while spraying. Pay attention to the assembly and the balance of the large radome and to the mounting of the propellers. Lay a primer and apply the paints with an airbrush, as carrier aircraft usually carry gray schemes; apply the decals over a gloss coat and bring out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
