A set of pre-cut painting masks for a model of the American Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon heavy helicopter in 1:48 scale, in the most extensive version. Besides the beading and the seals of the frames it also contains masks for the inside of the glazing, so the frames can be painted from both sides. That matters on a helicopter with a glazed cockpit, because the inside is on view and an unpainted inner frame in white plastic gives away a shortcut at once.
The MH-53E Sea Dragon is the heaviest helicopter the US Navy has operated. It came out of the transport machine of the Sea Stallion family and is recognized by its massive side tanks. Its main task is mine hunting: the machine tows an underwater device behind it with which it detonates or cuts the moorings of naval mines. The glazing has a great many panels and frames, and the cockpit can be seen into clearly from outside.
Apply the inner masks before the model is assembled, or you will not be able to reach the cockpit. Lift the masks off the sheet with the sharp point of a scalpel or with tweezers. Degrease the surface before applying them. Press the edges down with a toothpick and spray thin coats. Take the mask off while the paint is dry to the touch.
The set contains painting masks only. Paints and the model are not included in the package.
