The first of the two infantry boxes of the Spanish range: 28mm Spanish Napoleonic Wars Infantry 1808-1811 Set 1 (38 Figures) brings thirty-eight men in marching poses.
Responsibility details are not available.
Thirty-eight plastic infantrymen from Perry Miniatures make up the basis for a whole Spanish battalion. The castings will serve as soldiers of line regiments, men of the provincial militia, grenadiers and light infantrymen, and they can march either in close formation or at ease on the march. The box is designed so that it can be freely combined with the second set of the same range, which offers firing poses.
The Spanish army entered the fighting of 1808 in uniforms from prewar stocks and made itself up from freshly called-up year groups and from local militia. The result was an appearance that has no parallel in the Europe of the time: in one rank a soldier in regulation equipment stood next to a man in a knitted cap and a civilian coat. The set reflects this fact with a wide range of headdresses, from the bicorne through grenadier fur caps and shakos to civilian hats.
Do not impose color discipline on this army; it is exactly the differences between individual men that make a detachment believable. Keep several torsos unfinished until you know how many grenadiers and how much light infantry you want. The blue coat comes out well on a lighter base, while a dark base needlessly mutes it.
The sprues are unpainted; have your own paints and glue ready for finishing.
