Carriage wheels for the 5 cm PaK 38 anti-tank gun, with a Vorwerk tire. 1:35 scale, a replacement for the parts from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 5 cm PaK 38 was a German anti-tank gun introduced at the start of the 1940s and the direct forerunner of the heavier PaK 40. In the firing position it stood on the spread trails of its carriage; for moving it rested on a pair of wheels with a rubber tire and was towed behind a vehicle or a horse team. The wheels took more punishment in the field than any other part of the gun, which is why they show the most use on a model too.
Carriage wheels with a Vorwerk tire, that is in the version which differs from wheels with a tire of another make in the surface of the tire. The set replaces the parts from the kit, which tend to be simplified or get deformed during building. A replacement wheel holds an accurate circular outline, has no joint between two halves, and the surface of the hub and the tire stays legible on it even after painting.
If the parts are not polystyrene, ordinary cement for plastic kits will not hold on them, so use super glue or epoxy. Cut the excess material and production marks away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder down, so that the circular outline is preserved. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. When fitting them, make sure both wheels stand in one plane and the gun does not rock. Build the painting around the difference between the hub in the gun's color and a dark gray tire, then add chipping on the edges and finally dust and mud to match the terrain the gun stands in.
For builders of PaK 38 models in 1:35 scale who want the wheels in the right version and without a seam. Check the mounting on the axle dry against the instructions of your own kit. The package holds the wheels. The gun kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
