The PaK 40 of 7.5 cm caliber was the most widespread German anti-tank gun of the second half of the war. While firing it rested on the spread trails of its carriage, but for moving it was lifted onto a pair of wheels with rubber tires and towed by a vehicle or a horse team. On surviving examples the wheels differ according to the time of production and according to who supplied the tire, and they are among the details by which a carefully built model is recognized.
Wheels in the standard version, that is in the form you will meet most often on the PaK 40, with a Vorwerk tire. The replacement parts keep an exact circular outline, have no joint of two halves and the surface of the tire and the disc stays legible on them even once painted. The set also suits cases where the wheels from a kit have deformed during the build or have a simplified shape.
If the parts are not polystyrene, ordinary cement for plastic kits will not hold on them, so use super glue or epoxy. Cut excess material and traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder off so that the circular outline is preserved. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. The wheel is visible from all sides on a model, so when seating it watch that both stand in one plane and that the gun does not wobble. When painting, separate the tire from the disc and finally dust both with the shade of the ground the gun stands on.
For builders of PaK 40 models in 1:35 scale who object to the shape or the plain surface of the wheels from a kit. Check the fit on the axle dry according to the instructions of your kit. The package holds the wheels. The gun kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
